Zivid Power Supply

Zivid Power Supply

All Zivid cameras come with a power supply of 3.2 m in length in total. This includes an AC/DC adapter with an integrated DC cable (1.2 m) and a separate AC power cord (2 m). The power cord is available with EU/KOR, US/JAP, CN, and UK AC plug types.

Zivid Power Extension Cables Options

  • 5 m, 10 m, and 20 m power extension cables

    • Straight M12 male connector (camera side)

    • Straight M12 female connector (power supply side)

  • 3 m angled power extension cable

    • Angled (90 degrees) male M12 connector (camera side)

    • Straight M12 female connector (power supply side)

Zivid Power Extension Cables

Tip

The 3 m cable with an angled 90-degree connector fits well with the Zivid On-Arm Mount.

Check the table below for recommended Zivid cabling combinations.

Cabling combination

Length

Power supply (3.2 m)

3.2 m

Power supply (3.2 m) + 3 m power extension cable (90 deg)

6.2 m

Power supply (3.2 m) + 5 m power extension cable

8.2 m

Power supply (3.2 m) + 5 m power extension cable + 3 m power extension cable (90 deg)

11.2 m

Power supply (3.2 m) + 10 m power extension cable

13.2 m

Power supply (3.2 m) + 10 m power extension cable + 3 m power extension cable (90 deg)

16.2 m

Power supply (3.2 m) + 20 m power extension cable

23.2 m

For lengths above 23.2 m, extend the AC power cable side.

Usage Recommendations

Follow these guidelines for optimal performance:

  • Check cables for damage before use or if errors occur.

  • Use only Zivid approved Ethernet cables.

  • Make sure all connections are screwed in completely and tightly to ensure watertight IP rating.

  • When mounting the camera on a robot, use Strain Relief to protect the connectors.

Tip

Zivid Power Extension Cables are specifically designed high-quality cables suitable for robot applications.

See the Zivid Power Extension Cable Datasheet for detailed specs such as static and dynamic bending radius and tensile strength. The datasheet also provides information about bend and twist tests.

Third-Party Power Supply

Warning

We strongly recommend using the Zivid Power Supply with all Zivid cameras to ensure compliance with Safety and EMC emission and immunity standards. For more info, see Regulatory Information.

Using a third-party power supply is entirely the sole responsibility of the customer.

If you must use a third-party or custom power supply, it must meet these critical requirements (same as the Zivid Power Supply specs):

Input voltage

100-240 V AC

Input frequency

50-60 Hz

Output voltage

24 V DC

Output current

5 A [1]

Line regulation

<± 1% of rated input voltage at full load

Rise time

≦50 ms at 100-240 V AC input with full load from 10% to 90% of output voltage

Dynamic load regulation

±5% excursion for 50%-100% or 100%-50% load change of DC output at any frequency up to 1 KHz (duty 50%)

Ripple/noise

1.5 % max of rated output

Overcurrent protection

110%-170% of rated output current

Use the TE Connectivity 5 position M12 connector for connection with the Zivid Camera.

Note

The Zivid camera is protected against reverse polarity and against overheating by a thermistor that physically removes the power.

Third-Party Power (Extension) Cables

Warning

We strongly recommend using the Zivid Power (Extension) Cables with all Zivid cameras to ensure compliance with Safety and EMC emission and immunity standards. For more info, see Regulatory Information.

Using a third-party power cable is entirely the sole responsibility of the customer.

If you must use third-party or custom power cables, follow these requirements: Specs for wires and cable resistance are mandatory. Outer diameter, minimum bend radius, and bending/twisting performance are recommendations.

Wires

21 AWG x 4

Cable resistance

< 40 Ohm/Km for each of the 4 conductors

Outer diameter (OD)

5.6 ± 0.3 mm

Minimum dynamic bend radius

≥ 3 x OD = 17 mm

Minimum static bend radius

≥ 5 x OD = 28 mm

Bending performance

Bend radius: 10 x OD = 56 mm
Bend angle: ± 90°
Test speed: 30 cycles per minute
Cycles: ≥ 5 million
Cycles: ≥ 3 million (counter weight = 500g)

Twisting performance

Twist distance: 50 mm
Twist angle: ± 270°
Test speed: 40 cycles per minute
Cycles: ≥ 14 million

Reverse performance

Fixed spot spacing: 50 mm
Bend angle: ± 270°
Test speed: 40 cycles per minute
Cycles: ≥ 10 million

Tensile strength

≥ 1200 N

Keep the DC power cables as short as practically possible.

Warning

DC cables longer than 20 m are not recommended.

Note

Check out the specs of out power extension cable in the Zivid Power Supply Datasheet.

When using a third-party power extension with the parameters from the table, you must use two wires for 24V and two for GND. If using custom wires, ensure that their parameters give the same or better parameters as in the table above.
